It definitely takes a village to support our Robles Firewise Efforts!  We are working on creating private rosters by division.  If you have not already done so, please reach out to your neighborhood captain.  AND, we still have some Team Captain Openings - please contact us if you are interested:

Division Captains are an integral part of the Robles Firewise Group. The primary role of a Division Captain is to know the neighbors and households within his/her area and communicate information to the residents.

The purpose of a Division Captain is to:

  • Organize people at the neighborhood level so they will be more resilient in the event of a disaster.

  • Encourage or assist neighbors to reduce their fire-fuel load.

  • Assist, when needed, disabled individuals living in their neighborhood.

  • Promote community connections.

General Responsibilities:

  • Understand the boundaries of your division.

  • Develop and maintain a neighborhood roster.

  • Relay information to the households in your division.

  • Find others in your division who are willing to help on the different topics, such as fire-fuel reduction, emergency preparedness or community connections.

  • Network with other Division Captains and have fun.

  • Encourage others to become Division Captains or Co-Captains

  • Recruit your replacement as Division Captain - if your circumstances change in the future.

Preparedness Responsibilities

  • Establish an emergency response plan for your division.

  • Stay informed about Local and County Emergency Procedures.

  • Learn about home hardening techniques and share with neighbors.

  • Learn Response skills (examples how to turn off gas, how to use fire extinguisher, CPR)

Training and Meeting Participation

  • Participate in Division Captain Meetings, held 2 to 3 times per year.

  • Volunteer for Robles Firewise activities.

  • Division Captains will receive communications from Robles Firewise Board/leadership using email, and text messaging.

  • Division Captains should develop a communication system for the households in their division (email, text, snail mail or a combo)

Program communications will be delivered electronically so a computer and an email account are required. Active monitoring of email accounts is also essential.
